Well, if anybody should know…

“I am familiar with the techniques of tax avoidance. In a purely academic sense, of course.”

The 2016 campaign just keeps getting more absurd:

Mitt Romney on Wednesday raised questions about Donald Trump’s taxes that strikingly resembled attacks used against the former GOP presidential nominee four years ago.

“Frankly, I think we have a good reason to believe that there’s a bombshell in Donald Trump’s taxes,” Romney said in an interview on Fox News.

“I think there’s something there. Either he’s not anywhere near as wealthy as he says he is or he hasn’t been paying the kind of taxes we would expect him to pay, or perhaps he hasn’t been giving money to the vets or to the disabled like he’s been telling us he’s doing,” he added.

You may remember this line of attack from when exactly the same thing was pulled on Mitt “Mitt” Romney during the 2012 campaign, by Harry Reid. I’m old enough to remember when this sort of accusation was deemed outside the bounds of good taste by the same low-rent sociopaths who once countenanced this:

And not only is “Mitt” the most hilariously hypocritical party elder who could possibly levy this specific attack at Trump, but he’s also hopelessly out of his depth. Trump pretty much Jeb Bush’ed Romney in the span of two tweets:

Yep, that’s the end of that fight. Thanks for chiming in “Mitt.”
