The World Food Program received the money it needed to resume providing aid to displaced Syrian refugees in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Egypt, and then some (they needed $64 million and have reportedly received $80 million). It’s not much, but for people who have lost everything it’s not nothing either.
I’d like to also credit the several Western governments who agreed yesterday to boost the number of Syrian refugees they were willing to take in, but frankly their “generosity” in agreeing to take in all of 100,000 of the 3.2 million refugees the war has created is so paltry that I can’t muster up all that much enthusiasm for it. So in lieu of heartfelt thanks, I’d like to offer the governments of those countries this nonspecific award ribbon:

Congratulations, Western nations, for doing even less than the least you could do. You’re an inspiration to us all.
