So Tuesday’s story wasn’t entirely accurate:
“Dulaimi is not Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s wife currently. She has been married three times: first to a man from the former Iraqi regime, with whom she had two sons,” he said.
“Six years ago she married Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi for three months, and she had a daughter with him. Now, she is married to a Palestinian and she is pregnant with his child.”
Maybe the ex-Mrs. al-Baghdadi doesn’t carry as much exchange value as a current Mrs. al-Baghdadi would, but it does appear that the child she was traveling with, a daughter, is Baghdadi’s kid. The Lebanese government is, I’m sure, still planning to exchange them for its captured soldiers, and as distasteful as it appears to do a “prisoner” swap with a child, if it gets those soldiers back alive then it’s worth it.
UPDATE: Or, maybe, Ms. Dulaimi has never been married to Baghdadi. It’s hard to know these things sometimes.
